Stained bottoms of the main windows is the common problem that we often see in households that have storms. The water stains are hard to remove, yet the problem is easily prevented.
If you have storm windows chances are you have this problem, whether you know about it or not. This happens when the storm windows are lifted up for summer. The screens are naturally kept down to prevent insect from coming in. Amazingly the screens are at the root of the problem: during the rain the water goes through the metal mesh of the screens forming the staining solution, which when it gets on the glass of the main window produces the undesired stain.
The solution: simply slide down the storm window during rain or lift up the main window.
